It's true that the MCMS now falls under SharePoint from a product
management perspective, but I never heard that the development team was
"dissolved."  

The delays in coming out with a new release of MCMS has indeed caused
some fear and frustration among MS customers and integrators. I know
several MCMS customers who have moved on to another solution.  Of
course, there's a lot of CMS replacement going on out there in general.


However, Microsoft and various channel partners claim a major new
release is forthcoming...

...this is interesting - because the word on the street in the UK - one
source being a large MS Gold Partner - is that the MS-CMS development
team has been dissolved and merged into the Sharepoint team. If it is
*not* true then MS need to communicate this more effectively - because
the market perception across customers and even their own partners is
that MS-CMS is not being developed, the team that were developing it are
now part of the Sharepoint team and that customers are being 'pushed'
towards Sharepoint Portal and DMS as the MS solution of managing
content.....with MS-CMS being something that is pulled out in
emergencies when the potential customer digs their heals in and asks for
true WCMS....so I can understand where Jerry is coming from on this
one....

	That said Ektron is 100% .NET based. However if you are
concerned about
	Microsoft's commitment to CMS (which is entirely unfounded!!!),
surely
	you must be equally concerned regarding not just the future of
Ektron
	CMS 400, but also Ektron as a company. Let's face it Microsoft
are not
	likely to go bust, I'm not so confident about Ektron.

	I see a lot of people recommending the MS CMS.  We actually
chose not to
	use it for clients that require an ASP .NET based CMS based on
the fact
	that the product is in maintenance mode for what I have read.
This
	means no further development will be done to the development of
the
	product. 
	
	We have used Ektron for client installs where we can write ASP
code and
	use the .NET architecture.  They have a CMS built on the .NET
framework
	called CMS 400 (http://ektron.com/cms400.aspx).  One thing that
is
	attractive to us was the release schedule of new updates and
features as
	well as the stability.  When a new version was released we knew
that it
	was going to work.  It also has an integration to SharePoint.
