Hi James and Sunny and all

First post to this list! I have been interested in watching this thread 
as I am developing my own cms system. One of the reasons I wanted to 
develop my own was because I wanted complete control over how the cms 
worked - particularly in terms of using html and css. However, what I 
initially needed was a simple cms, one to display data and pictures. I 
then asked the developer that I am working with to update this and 
include shop facilities. This part if almost complete.

However in completing this simple cms and shop part I realised that I 
now need other options. Galleries, discussion groups etc... I wanted to 
include the advice to Sunny to carefully consider his needs. I am glad 
that I have started down this route and the results so far are 
excellent and have given me so much freedom. But I think that to a 
certain extent I have been lucky because I did not really consider my 
overall needs and how these would develop. This thread has helped me to 
realise this mistake and I will now start a process with the developer 
that will cover this.

I have used Mambo and Xoops and other open-source cms, but I found 
these limiting, now I admit to wondering whether the extent of the 
development of these cms explains their popularity.

If anyone has an idea on developing a cms, could they please email me - 
maybe that is a new thread?
