I can't speak for the US market, but this is just the sector I work in here
in the UK, and my last five CMS implementation projects have ended up
selecting four different vendors, three of which were common to all the
projects at the short list stage.

The top product is the one that best meets the needs of the client.

Read all about it in The Content Management Handbook
http://www.intranetfocus.com/technology/cmhandbook.php or the excellent
range of products from James Robertson at Step Two
http://www.steptwo.com.au/cm/cms/index.html

Tony Byrne's report provides invaluable background on the vendors, but does
not begin to compare them. The opening sections of his report are very
useful in developing user requirements.

Subject: [CMS] Mid-Market Content Management

I've spent most of my consulting life working with top tier ECM players and
now have a client in the mid-market ($25 - $125K range) and I'm not sure
where to begin. I've asked my boss to spring for Byrne's CMS Report which
seems to be the best resource available on the mid-market.

Ifyou have experience in this space, I would love to hear from you.
Specifically, I'm wondering who the top 5 vendors are? I see Ektron and
RedDot seem to be be ranked pretty high. Anyone have a top 5 they'd like to
share?
