You can't say who the "top vendors" are, as it all depends on your requirements. There is no "best solution" in general as the solution must meet the demands of the organization, their business model and industry they are in. Another good resource that you can use is the decision support tool from Technology Evaluation Centers. This is a powerful, impartial tool that will help you set your requirements for a CMS solution and matches those criteria with the information from vendors. You can check it out at www.ecmevaluation.com Regards, Hans Mercx ECM & BPM analyst / Consultant Tel: 514-954-3665 ext: 286 Technology Evaluation Centers Inc. http://www.technologyevaluation.com -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Thursday, August 11, 2005 12:00 PM To: [email protected] Subject: cms Digest, Vol 19, Issue 7 Send cms mailing list submissions to [email protected] To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://mailman.skybuilders.com/mailman/listinfo/cms or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to [email protected] You can reach the person managing the list at [email protected] When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of cms digest..." In Australia, there are over 100 products in the marketplace, almost all of which you might define as "mid-market": http://www.steptwo.com.au/cm/vendors/australian/index.html Here, at least, it's an incredibly even playing field with no dominant players. There is great demand for CMS products, so every vendor is making sales at present. The whole concept of "top vendors" is wrong. As you, of all people, would know, it comes down to how well a product matches the *specific business requirements* of each client: http://www.steptwo.com.au/papers/cmb_requirements/index.html Cheers, James ------------------------- James Robertson Step Two Designs Pty Ltd Knowledge Management / Content Management / Intranets http://www.steptwo.com.au/ [email protected] ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Thu, 11 Aug 2005 18:06:15 +1000 From: Bruce Morrison <brucem-uYycIHeTBiM0n/[email protected]> Subject: Re: [CMS] Mid-Market Content Management To: Matthew Clapp <[email protected]> Cc: [email protected] Message-ID: <1123747576.3149.36.camel-WgoOehkouGDPsl8/[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain On Wed, 2005-08-10 at 16:15 -0400, Matthew Clapp wrote: > I've spent most of my consulting life working with top tier ECM > players and now have a client in the mid-market ($25 - $125K range) > and I'm not sure where to begin. Getting some good reviews in Europe. http://ez.no/company/news/the_blue_chips_of_enterprise_content_managemen t_ez_systems_rated_third "German jdk presents the five vendors with the strongest growth potential in the growing Enterprise Content Management market in a new independent study. eZ systems is rated top three in front of Microsoft and EMC2." CMSWatch has a list where they have a category called "Mid-Market Mainstream" and "Mid-Market Challengers". Your definition might not be same as CMSWatch's definition but the list is worth a dekko.
