Dear Matthew,

I agree with James. You can't say who the "top vendors" are, as it all
depends on your requirements. There is no "best solution" in general as
the solution must meet the demands of the organization, their business
model and industry they are in.

Another good resource that you can use is the decision support tool from
Technology Evaluation Centers. This is a powerful, impartial tool that
will help you set your requirements for a CMS solution and matches those
criteria with the information from vendors. You can check it out at
www.ecmevaluation.com

Matthew,

I'm a bit surprised, it's an odd question for a CM Pros
member to be asking!

In Australia, there are over 100 products in the marketplace,
almost all of which you might define as "mid-market":

http://www.steptwo.com.au/cm/vendors/australian/index.html

Here, at least, it's an incredibly even playing field with
no dominant players. There is great demand for CMS products,
so every vendor is making sales at present.

The whole concept of "top vendors" is wrong. As you, of all
people, would know, it comes down to how well a product
matches the *specific business requirements* of each client:

Cheers,
James

Do look at eZ Publish http://ez.no. It's a solid dual licenced (OS &
Commercial) php CMS.

Getting some good reviews in Europe.

http://ez.no/company/news/the_blue_chips_of_enterprise_content_managemen
t_ez_systems_rated_third
"German jdk presents the five vendors with the strongest growth
potential in the growing Enterprise Content Management market in a new
independent study. eZ systems is rated top three in front of Microsoft
and EMC2."

Cheers

I will not go into the meaning/suitability/etc/etc of the term
"Mid-Market". CMSWatch has a list where they have a category called
"Mid-Market Mainstream" and "Mid-Market Challengers". Your definition
might not be same as CMSWatch's definition but the list is worth a
dekko.

Here's the link http://www.cmswatch.com/CMS/Vendors/

Subject: [CMS] Mid-Market Content Management

I've spent most of my consulting life working with top tier ECM players
and now have a client in the mid-market ($25 - $125K range) and I'm not
sure where to begin. I've asked my boss to spring for Byrne's CMS Report
which seems to be the best resource available on the mid-market.

Ifyou have experience in this space, I would love to hear from you.
Specifically, I'm wondering who the top 5 vendors are? I see Ektron and
RedDot seem to be be ranked pretty high. Anyone have a top 5 they'd like
to share?
