Re: Mambo or Joomla

The unfolding drama of this group over the past year has been like watching a bad soap opera. If your primary criteria for choosing a CMS is based on who will be around for the long haul, I would go with MOS since it has a successful track record (LinuxWorld Best Open Source Solution and Best of Show), support from a non-profit foundation (Mambo Foundation), and a large investment by Miro (miro.com.au) in the success of this product. That said, personally, I would go with Joomla since the best developers seem to have left to begin this new product fork. Support and sustainability issues aren't really my driving decision making process though. I'm more interested in high quality software. If Joomla turns into vaporware I can always extend and customize it myself.

Dear list members:

I have been working for some time now with Mambo Open Source (MOS), a CMS that
I found a good combination of features and ease of administration. As you
well know, some months ago there was an split of several MOS programmers to
Joomla. Currently the two applications are almost identical, but in the
future probably they will take different ways. According with your experience
and information with which of them you suggest to go: MOS or Joomla? Which
one offers a more long term development? Sorry to put a question over
specific CMS solutions, but I'll like to take the best informed alternative.
