To be honest, I thought the same thing until very recently, and I'm a software developer. I've always preferred some flavor of unix for development, but Windows on the desktop. But a few months ago, I installed a new desktop with Fedora and found it almost entirely workable as a desktop OS. Some things are lacking, but many other things are better. However, I digress, so I'd be happy to discuss this offline if you're thinking about switching. To bring this back on track, I do have a question about ASP hosting. My company does custom CMS development, and (among other things) we've built up a strong product around Zope. We're considering selling access to the product as an ASP service, but have found that most of our existing clients want to do some kind of custom development themselves after the initial deployment.
