Anyone use Community Server for an Intranet? Compared to Sharepoint? Or other 'portals'?

We're in the very early stages of trying to figure out what technology to use for our major intranet overhaul (going from static site to a CMS/DMS of some sort). We do need to pick a MS based solution (.net) :/ We've been trained on Sharepoint, but, for a variety of reasons, I'd rather not go with that. Community Server has been getting some buzz in the .net world and it looks to be shaping up as a nice tool. So, my question is if anyone has implemented a portal-like product, or specifically Community Server, for a large corporate intranet? I'll leave the question vague at this point but may jump in with some specific questions in a bit... (BTW, is this list still alive? It's so quiet in here...) -Darrel
