There will be some improvements, but mostly cosmetic. objectadmin is the
nexus for a LOT of functionality and handles a lot of different situations.
This issue is a case in point, objectadmin transparently works with
versioned content, unversioned content that has status, and no-status
content, several different database engines, permissions, custom record
sets, pagination, filters, custom columns / buttons / dropdown actions,
arbitrary ordering and where clauses. It's been built up over a decade and,
as Phil has discovered, is spread out through a winding maze of tags and
components using all sorts of weird hacks (did you know that a component
called from a tag has access to attributes?). What it really needs is to be
burnt in a fire, scattered over separate bodies of water, then re-written,
and to hell with backwards compatibility. But that's a lot of work and it
works now (more or less), so we keep putting it off :)
