It might be some sort of db constraint you have in place, like an index.

Personally I'd look at just dropping hand picked and writing a specific
rule for the individual content types you want to have listed. Rules plus
fapi.getcontentobjects are about the tastiest customization you can make.
Would be happy to show you a sample rule if you're keen.
