6.28 HandPicked rule alternatives.

A victim of the broken handpicked rule (no longer able to use, and existing 
containers with HP rules seem to be borking -- content disappearing)

I am searching for some quick alternatives... as the site seems to be 
literally falling apart on me (not sure why all of the sudden containers 
that had handpicked rules are not displaying any content.)

We used handpicked rules extensively throughout our site to pick mixed 
content types and order them however we saw fit, select webskins,,... it 
was awesome..

Geoff says... "but folks should really look at building simple custom rules 
to replace this feature, or dispensing with containers altogether. ..."

Is there an example rule I can find to base some quick and dirty fixes? I 
assume i have to make one for each content type, but is it possible to use 
some sort of library picker and select a webskin?

Also, Geoff, what does this mean? "or dispensing with containers 
altogether."
