FWIW, I was able to get this up and running very easily after reading through the developer guide wiki pages by installing and configuring IIRF. My only dissapointment, if any, is that friendly URLs in farcry appear to require "go" and there does not appear to be a way to tell farcry to always display them to the user's browser instead of objectID ones - but I'll keep reading...
