Most of these are legacy and kept for backward compatability. The reason you may not be seeing FU's in your application is that you must use the buildlink tag (./tags/webskin) to build your links or build them by hand so to speak, so that they show friendly URLs. Buildlink responds to the Plugins config setting for Friendly URLs.
