What is the difference in FarCry Core vs. CMS?

Especially in the latest releases, the FarCry CMS has been advertised
more as a separate plug in that is on top of the FarCry "Core".
However, anything I have found written thus far seems to talk about
them as one.  Can anybody point me to some documentation or offer a
break down as to what functionality is part of the Core vs. the CMS?
