I think you hit it on the head=2E  To just get started with Zope only takes =
minutes - just download the binary install and start using and you can do qu=
ite a bit without even reading documentation=2E =20

But, with power and flexibility comes complexity, so if you want to extend Z=
ope, cluster it across many servers, etc=2E, expect to dig in=2E  For our fi=
rst 'clustering' experience, we asked for assistance from a consultant and w=
ere able to accomplish this in less in a few hours and then I was able to ta=
ke it from there and cluster the rest of the ZEO clients/servers once I had =
a model to go off of=2E  I'd recommend hiring expert help for a day or expec=
t it to take you perhaps a few days to get it just right (assuming you're us=
ing a few things like Apache, Squid (load balancing, caching, failover, etc=2E=
), and ZEO clients/servers=2E

In addition, there is validity to your plan in that there are already Zope s=
ite hosting providers that provide an environment and allow you to add the Z=
ope add-on products you prefer=2E  These usually run in the $10-20/month ran=
ge for personal use or more for professional sites with higher traffic/stora=
ge needs=2E

One example is a free Zope hosting site which might give you some ideas:  ht=
tp://freezope=2Eorg/ =2E  You can setup a free test Zope site in that hosted=
 environment (as long as it's not for profit) and see how things are handled=2E=
