hi all,

go to www.interactivetools.com they have an open source and free of charge
wysiwyg editor called htmlarea. to my knowledge the version 3.0 is still
alpha. the editor itself is fully javascript and can easily be connected to
a php, asp or whatever you got system. version 3.0 takes advantage of
mozilla 1.3 new capabilities of handling javascript text formating (until
recently only ie could do it). i'm only starting to implement 3.0 this
week-end or the beginning of the next week so i can't give you any pointers.
however, i have worked with previous versions and to me this editor seems to
be the best around (i loath java applications). also the community is very
large and has created many patches, plugins and addons which can be
implemented in your final version.

p.s. to my knowledge netscape 7.0 uses the same engine as mozilla 1.3 and
this editor should work in that browser also. it is not quite clear to me
yet if the text editing capabilities reside in the browser or in the
operating system, but it seems that mozilla and htmlarea 3.0 can also be
used on linux and maybe even on mac.
