Desactivating the á = ã

Hi all...how can I turn off the conversion from "á" to "&atilde;" ??
because I have a JavaScript that write dinamicaly options objects in a
form, but it shows me always a wrong text (ex.: [ Caminh&atilde;o ][ v
] )
