Mass import of users into jahia

Hi

I am implementing a site and i need to import 4770 users.

I have all the user details in an excel spreadsheet, I was wondering if 
anyone has any dev routines for uploading users automatically, or 
whether i am going to have to write one from scratch.

Any advice/pointers would be welcome
