Hello.  The version is 4.0.3.  No URL rewriting or anything like that
(although the link to admin is * /jahia/administration/?do=passthru - should
these urls have site identifiers?).  

I'll check it on a fresh install and let you know.

Which version are you using? Do you have some url 
rewriting at the front end which may cause some 
problems (e.g. automatically remove all the 
/site/name_of_your_site in the urls)? Is the 
feature working on a fresh Jahia installation 
(with HSQL, basic install, no customization)?
