If I remember correctly the function already 
exists in the back-end but GUIs were never 
developed in order to select a user/group from 
another virtual site. Meanwhile most of the 
customers moved or are moving to a centralised 
LDAP/Active Directory connection.

Not more simple to install an OpenLDAP?
