categories

Hello,
I am a new user now testing Jahia, and I am wondering how do the categories 
work. I have created categories in the corresponding menu, and then attached 
containers to those categories, but the contents does not seem to be shared 
as expected. It is probably a very simple missuse, but unfortunately I could 
not find more precisions on Jahia's documentation (especially 
administrator's guide)
How does it work ?
