you also have a mechanism of "linked copies" 
(Each modification on the source are reflected on 
the desitination. The destination can be on 
another virtual site). But as it is "linked 
copies" you can not edit them for the moment. But 
perhaps we may customize the things to let the 
end-users choose different time base publishing 
dates between the source and the destination.... This would solve your issue.
