Uploading multiple files to Jahia

We are running Jahia on a Unix environment and we need to upload
multiple files to the public storage area.  Looking at the documentation
this is possible on a Windows environment using Webdav, server has to
support IIS or WEC and FrontPage extensions.  Is there a similar way of
doing this on Unix?
