5.0: cannot add News

I created an object on the left side of the home page, of Type "Last news". When rendered on the page, it says "Categories: Select the news categories you want to display by selecting them in the MetaData part of the news box". However, I can't see how to do that. There isn't a MetaData part of the news box. Is this small box a link to news I create elsewhere in the portal using some other type of object? -- ==Leonard E.
