Re:Index Database

The indexes are similary identicals between Jahia 4 and Jahia 5 for the Jahia core tables. But, depends on your configuration (files / bigtext in DB or on the filesystem for example), there're many new tables in Jahia v5 DB those needs new indexes.

The best way to obtain the good indexes for your DB is to use the P6Spy Pass-Thru Driver (http://www.p6spy.com/). To install this on the tomcat, do as follow :
modify catalina.sh or catalina.bat to add on the CATALINA_OPTS the option

-Dp6.home=[TOMCAT_HOME]/tomcat/webapps/jahia/WEB-INF/etc/config

modify [TOMCAT_HOME]/tomcat/webapps/jahia/WEB-INF/etc/config/jahia.properties to use db_driver

com.p6spy.engine.spy.P6SpyDriver

modify [TOMCAT_HOME]/tomcat/conf/Catalina/localhost/jahia.xml to use driverClassName

com.p6spy.engine.spy.P6SpyDriver

put spy.properties in the folder

[TOMCAT_HOME]/tomcat/webapps/jahia/WEB-INF/etc/config

put p6spy.jar in the folder

[TOMCAT_HOME]/tomcat/webapps/jahia/WEB-INF/lib

modify [TOMCAT_HOME]/tomcat/webapps/jahia/WEB-INF/etc/config/spy.properties like explain in the SQL Profiler Jahia documentation (http://www.jahia.net/jahia/page597.html). 
Personaly, I use le FileLogger instead of sqlprofiler SocketAppender logger because my DB is very large and I've not enough memory to avoid all requests in SQLProfiler. 

If you use SQLProfiler start it and start listen p6spy.

Start Jahia
SQLProfiler is very usefull to define in the first time all indexes neededs by Jahia. To optimize the indexes, use the log make fine statistics on requests load to find which indexes your DB needs.
