extended charset problem

Hi to all,
 
I'm trying to install Jahia 5.0.2 under a Red Hat Enterprise 3 system.
 
My problem is: when I try to use Oracle (both 8.1.2 and 10g version) I get the error message about the use of "extended charset". My db seems unable to use it.
 
The workaround I've found is to set to 'false' the parameter 'utf8Encoding' in the file jahia.skeleton, but obviously this is not the 'best practice' to solve the problem!
 
Any idea?
