hi,
looking at your screenshot, you've created a folder under shared, which 
does not look to inherits from the rights of the shared folder. on this 
point, the answer is that there is a bug in 4.0.4 with space in folder 
names, which prevent to see the rights (actually they are inherited), 
or upload a file, or create a folder, or to do anything on this 
folder/file. it is just a link encoding issue. however i do not see any 
reason why you could not upload files in the shared folder, if rights 
are granted. but if the file name contains spaces you might have the 
same issue when looking at file permissions, no rights will be 
shown.there is no way to deactivate the rights inheritance - so if the 
rights do not appear there's an issue somewhere.
