These problems should be solved in Jahia 4.0.5 as soon as we can get it 
out the door. In the meantime you're welcome to checkout the 
JAHIA-4-0-BRANCH from the CVS and try it out. This would help us confirm 
that these problems have been solved.

As for the cache, there should be in 4.0.5 new caches that relate to 
LDAP users and groups, so that you can flush them.
