Jahia and Javascript

Hello, 

I have made a template with a little javascript function that shows or hides a layer depending on the state of a checkbox. It is already working in pure HTML. But unfortunately in Jahia not, what do I have to use instead of "document.all.["idoftheLayer"].style.display". Is there any way to implement in a similar way like this.  How do i access on elements of javascript like "document".
