RE: blog templates

No you should be able to use them through within 
the jahia template. In Edit mode on a blog entry, 
below the comment form, you should have a : "Sent 
ping urls" container which should allow you to 
coyp/paste the trackback url you want to ping... 
But I must say do not use such a feature on a 
daily basis, so perhaps there is a bug...
