Which version of TinyMCE is this? TinyMCE 2 explicitly replaces strong and em
tags by b and i, respectively, when it detects Firefox or any other Gecko-based
browser. Since b and i are not valid tags, the cleanup code removes them. You
can verify this by clicking on the cleanup button.

TinyMCE 3 works for me. Can you please try 3.3.8 ?
