I'm still trying to track down what those changes are. It appears that you need your PMC's approval to be a mentor, but I can't seem to find that rule. They typically allow for 4 hours of mentoring per week. Different projects do things in different ways. I used email as the time difference was quite significant. As far as the actual amount of work, that too will vary. I don't think it is realistic to expect a student to work 40 hours a week, every week during what is their summer vacation (if they are in the Northern Hemisphere). I would expect them to take some time off. I you haven't already, subscribe to [email protected].
