Today morning there was an announcement about an important bug-fix on one of the mailing lists. This left me with two options: - getting the source, building and installing it - waiting for 24 hours until the binaries, in my case via '*-latest.rpm', are made available. There is nothing wrong with the first option of doing it the traditional way. But, so far, there is no single 'make install' or equivalent for doing it all. So I prefer the second option. This means that in case the binary rpm is not yet available, I'd rather download the source rpm, ogox.src.rpm, and do a 'rpm --rebuild ogox.src.rpm'; But first, references to the SRPMS are incomplete in the sense that I couldn't find them in their actual version - and some like the opengroupware-xmlrpcd-latest.src.rpm I never saw - nor their spec-files. Second, if the SRPMS are constructed with a certain delay (24h?), I could imagine to download the source tar ball(s) and the spec-file in order to generate the SRPMS and the RPM myself (I suppose the sources are changing frequently, whereas the specs are not): 'rpm -ba ogox.spec'. So my suggestions is to include the rpm-spec-files into the source-tars. Little work and faster feedbacks for everybody (!?) Martin P.S.: A simple search reveals that there are already two of them: [sh]# find ./OpenGroupware.org/ -name '*.spec' /home/desenv/projects/ogo/OpenGroupware.org/ThirdParty/libxml2/libxml.spec /home/desenv/projects/ogo/OpenGroupware.org/ThirdParty/gnustep-make/gnustep-make.spec - but unfortunately I couldn't find any hint on the opengroupware-xmlrpcd.spec yet... -- OpenGroupware.org Discussion [email protected] http://mail.opengroupware.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
