This is certainly something we would like to work on in the future, 
together with the OOo project.

You can already access documents from the OGo versioned document 
storage using the WebDAV daemon, but the versioning process itself must 
currently be done using the web interface (releasing versions etc) 
since OOo doesn't provide support for that (AFAIK).

Yes. Actually those diffing tools can partly be implemented in the 
server given OOo's open XML file format and we would like to work on 
that.
But yes, OOo needs to be extended in that direction.

Definitely. It goes exactly in the direction we want to go with office 
integration. But this aspect still needs quite a bit of work and 
effort.

Well, I think I well understand what you want (controlling team 
repositories from the office environment). Actually Microsoft is 
providing such an integration of Office with it's SharePoint portal 
server.
I think we can do better ;-)
