Hi Helge! > I talked with several people at Apple. They do no > OpenSource sponsoring > (and I'm not aware of any Apple sponsored project > [Apple projects like > Darwin do not count]). Hopefully, that might change in the near future, since the majority of the competition is getting FOSS friendly (Sun, Novell, CA, etc.) They might be able to sell more X-Serves if they had an exchange killer pre-loaded on it. Maybe those Apple folks need to subscribe to the Porting mailing list, or keep an eye on the Porting page. With that BIG Munich switch to Linux, Apple might see this as a chance to revisit customers who used to have Macs before PC's and MS proliferated. > They don't. Might speed up the builds for beta testing. > If we would provide a ready to run solution for > MacOSX, I think there > are good chances that Apple might include it in > MacOSX server or at > least push news about OGo. > But getting the OSX port into the same state like > the Linux port is > quite a while to go. One would think that it would be to their benefit to help out with something. I guess they don't know a good thing when the see it... or their iPods are turned up to loud, and they can't think straight! ;-) > IMHO it would be more interesting to talk with a > Linux oriented company > like RedHat (or CA? / Sun?) which is in the server > business and has no > groupware server. If someone has connections, I > don't ;-) The only people I would know are in Ottawa, Canada... and I'm not sure if they survived "downsizing". You could try pinging the local Sun sales office in Germany, and seeing if they can escalate it to the right people. It would be closer to home for ya there! Make lots of noise at LinuxTag! /Mike ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca -- OpenGroupware.org Discussion [email protected] http://mail.opengroupware.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
