Yes. This isn't the topic of the thread "Workspace vs Projects" anymore

You are right, but also not really the topic. The discussion was not on 
the common workspace, but on separate, individual workspaces (which the 
project application provides).
Of course one could create completely separate OGo databases for each 
"discussion", but this would be a bit overkill in practice and is not 
really well supported.

I think we all agree on that ;-) The basic point where this part of the 
thread started is when there was the conclusion (of me ;-) that a forum 
as suggested is a project as it exists today (+ threading in notes, 
which is also useful in projects [or workspaces <or xxx>]).

So we have a single "technical entity" which is currently called a 
"project" but also could be named
- a forum
- a workspace
- a project
- a dossier
etc.
I'm sure there are a lot more names for the "thing" which is nowadays 
called a "project" in OGo (that is, an ACL controlled object with 
contained documents, notes, associations, etc), depending on the actual 
user.

Yes, thats a good trick to get a custom label :-)

But one of the requirements was that it is easy for the scientist to 
start a new "discussion". For that he currently needs to go to the 
"projects" application and press "new" (which he finds confusing 
because he doesn't want a "project" in his focused mind ;-).
So the requirement would be to have a "discussions" application which 
is exactly the same thing like the "projects" application but just has 
a different name.
