Well to do any measures on this it would be interesting to know what is 
different between Sugar payware and freeware, and even more, whether 
the payware features are also covered by OGo.

As Chris mentions, it is this way. Nevertheless votes are a tool which 
give some insight on what people consider important or not.

This has two issues:
a) we don't have an "OGo Foundation" yet, so determining the target of 
donations might
    not be clear (people probably don't want to "donate" to a commercial 
entity like
    Skyrix)
b) a Paypal button was on the site for about a year. Not a single 
donation was done,
    maybe due to a)

Currently donations are done best by either
a) order the fix of some specific or arbitary bug at Skyrix
b) sponsor hardware to the project
