We've played with the Sync4j (a really nice SyncML project) server and
successfully been able to sync many devices including RIMs (Blackberrys)
and even M$-Outlook to a filesystem database [ yea, that part is
boring ].  But if there was a Sync4j GroupDAV connector I think lots of
devices would be able to sync to various 'groupware' servers.  Thats the
track I think would be cool,  but I'm not a Java programmer and I don't
even know if there is a Java GroupDAV implementation underway anywhere.

It seems like GroupDAV provides sufficient information to do a sync.

Sync4j provides an administrative interface for managing all the various
devices and matching users to devices, etc...
