To all,

I work for an IT firm and have just put opengroupware on our
webserver.  It's come a long way.  It's got a great feature set.  It's
got a HORRIBLE icon.

"Why buy a Groupware server as a black box when you can get an open
one for free?"

To me, this translates as, "We're almost as good as 'them', but at
least we're free."

I love open source and I'm pushing it at our customers as best as I
can sell it.  However, this message is flawed!

I'm writing a quote for a groupware server running this software, and
I know that I'm going to be putting my customer's logo in place of
homepage2.gif.  There's no way I'll have them see a message like that.
  I'd rather see something a little warmer, like, "OpenGroupware.org,
built on the most reliable SQL database." or "When it's open, a
groupware server is stronger."

Now, I'm no marketing guru--as you can tell by my quick one-liners.
But, someone out there is.  Keep in mind that this project isn't great
because it's free.  This project is great because it embodies all of
the roles that a groupware server is for; and does it well.  Pricetag
is secondary.  To my customers, I won't be pitching this as a cheap
alternative.  I'll be pitching it as the best groupware server out
there.
