In general I think the provided icons/graphics are not very 'shiny';
but I have no skill what-so-ever in that area.

Wow, I certainly didn't take it that way.  I took it as "pay heaps of
cash for some thing that will make you do things it's way, or install an
open package and do things your way".

You can easily replace these images (I suspect most sites do), and there
was a recent thread about the search path used to locate the resources -
but I'm not aware of any clear-cut documentation on how to do so.   If
you make up some new ones than by all means upload them to the
OpenGroupware docs plone.
