Yes, tasks is actually the only case where keywords are really not meant to be categories but keywords for fast searches in tasklists. Though they probably should be dropped in favor of categories which are very close. Maybe file an OGo 1.2 bugreport for this. > Do people use both fields independently? The advantage of keywords is that they can be searched in the joblist. But the same searchfield could also search in categories. > Are both fields visible in other clients like Outlook, > Evo, SOGo, etc? No. Only categories is visible in other clients. > What are folks' typical use cases for each field? > > If people are using them independently, maybe that > functionality should be enhanced and made available to > Projects, Contacts/Companies, etc. No, IMHO keywords should be removed. >> What are folks' typical use cases for each field? > I believe that the Categories field was created for Zidelook's Outlook > support. It appears to be just a dumb free form text field (I don't > know how Zidelook uses it). For this reason we don't use it. ZideLook and iCalendar use the categories field and have a multi- checkbox UI for that. You can create arbitary categories and save them. Like [x] Holiday [ ] Business [x] Important etc. Such fields are simply stored as CSV, in the above case as: Holiday,Important Greets, Helge -- http://docs.opengroupware.org/Members/helge/ OpenGroupware.org -- OpenGroupware.org Discussion [email protected] http://mail.opengroupware.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
