I suppose it doesn't make sense to discuss whether it will be positive or negative for Apple, we can just wait and see. IMHO the CPU doesn't matter much in practice (definitely not in desktops and servers, maybe a bit more notebooks). As a matter of fact with NeXTstep/OPENSTEP it was the most natural thing on earth to run the same binary on Motorola, Intel, SPARC and HPPA CPUs. This just worked (eg at MDlink we used to have NeXTstations as beautiful client machines and Intel boxes as compilation / fileserving / database backends).
