Well, there are a lot of nuances between pragmatic and perfect.  
Whether a Wiki is OK just needs appropriate research.

Lets fetch my crystal ball! ;-) No, really, if you need to invest SO  
MUCH work that you feel bad to possibily throw away the effort after  
one or two years something is certainly going wrong.
Being able the extract the data is also a strong requirement because  
of just that.

I would expect a few days of evaluating software and then a few days  
of moving the content.

I don't think that this is the case. There is certainly no knowledge  
(at the level required) on Zope over here. I do know the software  
design internals but have no practical experiences with it nor the  
time, just the impressions I got from docs and the reports I get from  
administrators.

As we learned Michael has entry-level knowledge and Chris probably  
has some advanced knowledge, but little time as well.

You can not run directly against Zope, its far too slow. But the same  
may be true for Wikis.
Now the question is how difficult it is to make either Zope or a Wiki  
scale. Eg I think I've read that MediaWiki can produce static content  
which would be perfect.

Well, if you are motivated to learn Zope you might consider that. But  
don't underestimate the amount of time required to learn it (to reach  
a level as required here), it might be better spend on other stuff  
(like learning WebObjects/ObjC ;-)

The decision is basically that of the contributor, in this case you.  
If you won't do something on www, it will very likely stay as it is  
for the foreseeable future.


I would again like to ask all of you to put a strong focus on what is  
actually possible with the available resources instead of discussing  
what might be theoretically possible with one software or the other.
