Good question, I think it would probably omit the value from the XML- RPC record. Which of course the obvious solution! After all its a record, null is not needed in this case anyways, just remove the birthday key. Except for uploads, in this case it could be represented as an empty string, I would assume that a SOPE XML-RPC frontend deals well with other datatypes (-isNotEmpty etc).
