Hi, All, I am very glad to see the interest in a US OSCOM. I agree that we should think about alternatives for location -- Austin and DC are great cities and viable options (even if not the Hub of the Universe, as is Boston :) ). I would suggest that we define both our requirements and at least an outline of a program. This would allow folks on an organizing commitee to approach local sponsors, discuss the logistics. I was not involved in planning the OSCOM at Harvard, so perhaps Gregor and others can help with the requirements. Here is an initial list of requirements. -- Number of participants -- Number and configuration of meeting rooms -- Infrastructure (WiFi, Audio/Video, Workstations, Internet Access) -- Hotels (Recommendations only or room blocks at a conference rate?) -- Travel agency -- Number of volunteers to staff registration, information desk, A/V help -- Marketing activities (posters announcements, ads, etc) -- Security (site and other -- Catering or on-site food services -- Others/ Also, at a higher level, do we want to engage a professional management company, and work out the financial details that this implies? I hope that this helps get things started, Brad Kain _______________________________________________ General mailing list [email protected] http://oscom.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/general
