  I am sorry if my point was not clear.

  I dont know what is your job, nor your function, irrespective of that I suggest that you think carefully before jumping to that conclusion. 

  What I am trying to say is that with the same investment, you could have a flexible system that can be extended to handle all content formats and functions, if and when required

  A well designed CMS can  handle DM  as a matter of course, if thats part of the specification,  the contrary is not true.

  Of course sometimes short term vision is a strategy, only you, and your end user can know that
