CMF/Plone has this with a CMF LinkChecker product by gocept.

We do XML DAV PUT's into Plone.  There should be some information
about "Marsahll" and "Archetypes".  We used this to migrate Oxfam 
America's
content from PHP/MYSQL to Zope/Plone.

MYSQL -> XML -> HTTP/DAV -> Plone
