I guess I don't know how to read GitLab yet as it says:

yet this did not happen 5 years ago,  this only occured recently, in the
last year max.  Uploading by choosing 'Upload File' (so from your computer)
worked in 18x for many point releases, it only broke in like 18.5 or 18.6.
(and also broke in the 21x versions at the same time).
I do not recall seeing this 'Upload in Modal' as an option, it's fairly new
I think (last one year I would guess).

Jonny - why do you have to fix everything?  Aren't there other developers?
