Hi all,

Nice looking overall, I agree. I've always liked Tiki's "unique"
approaches to things, like the grid of admin icons, but it's true that
the meanings aren't clear to newcomers, or even to the rest of us
especially since switching to icon fonts whose abstract images don't
convey the intended meanings as well as the old motley assortment of
more detailed png images did. So it's probably good to make the move to
a menu with full text labels, which is a more conventional and
immediately understandable layout and doesn't rely on tooltips so much.
And I like the idea of a new DOM element for the menu, thinking that it
leaves more options open for placement and behavior.

I have always liked that Tiki's administration pages share the styling
of the public/community/presentation side of the site rather than having
a stark utilitarian appearance. Being able to specify an admin theme
gives the best of both worlds -- wild and woolly admin pages or
control-room functionality, whatever people want.

As far as the item groupings are concerned, actually I still like/prefer
what I came up with earlier, which can now be found down in the page's
"Obsolete Stuff" (thanks, guys ;-) ) --
https://dev.tiki.org/Administration-UX-and-Control-Panels-re-organization#Enhanced_Grid_Display
. I'm talking about how the section grouping of features/links is
organized, not about their layout on the page. This grouping suggestion
is still a contender, I believe, and of course it's open to tinkering
and improvement.

I'm sorry I wasn't involved in the RTM discussion of this -- I had
another meeting at the same time and couldn't pay good attention to both.
