While the multilingual tracker option work fine in the plugin list (use format trackerrender) for a FULL article it will not be user friendly

Thinking out-loud;
I would use several items or may be several trackers.
Use a way to tag the article language (category, dropdown or may be tag)

IE:
item1 = articleA_de 
item2 = articleA_en 
item3 = articleA_fr 
item4 = articleB_de
etc…

You can use many ways then to filter by the language field (in a smarty pref.language or using the LANG plugin)

Mmm… this is just a link to the next item in row created for this language.
Can’t we use a list plugin with a filter on the language field (as explained above) + offset = 1 (next) and -1 (previous)
