Thanks, good page, generally i agree, but there's mention of the semi-automatic merging version in this section:

From my experience in 22.x and 21.x i thought the general feeling was to stop dong this. I was the only person doing the merges (i think) and most people continued to commit to trunk/master/main and cherry-pick to the branches as required, so i think git now makes this process unnecessary, as comparing and merging/backporting between branches is now so much easier and quicker i think we should continue the same process throughout the year.

What do others think?
